Maya is a Master Practitioner of Clinical Counselling (MPCC-P), a somatic therapist, and a craniosacral therapy practitioner. Her work is rooted in relational and somatic, body-oriented approaches, with an emphasis on the connection between mind, body, emotions and lived experience.

Her approach has been deeply influenced by the work of Dr. Gabor Maté, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, and Dr. Richard Schwartz — particularly their understanding of trauma, emotional patterns, and the ways our experiences shape both the mind and body.

Many of the clients she works with understand themselves intellectually, yet feel stuck in patterns of exhaustion, physical or mental tension, overwhelm, anxiety, or disconnection from themselves. At the core of her work is a deep belief in people’s capacity for change. Hardship can be deeply painful. She believes that with the right support, awareness, and therapeutic relationship, it can become an opportunity for healing, growth and transformation.

Sessions are 75 minutes long to allow space for deeper reflection and meaningful therapeutic work.

Areas of Focus

 Anxiety & overwhelm  Emotional exhaustion & burnout  Stress & internal pressure  Relationship patterns & attachment wounds  Self-worth & identity exploration  Emotional regulation  Disconnection from self  Trauma & past experiences  High-functioning anxiety  Life transitions & personal growth

Therapeutic Approaches

There is no single therapy that fully captures the complexity of being human. I integrate the most effective elements of psychodynamic, experiential, somatic, cognitive, and behavioural therapies, including:

 Somatic Therapy  Relational Therapy  Parts Work based on Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS)  Inner Child Healing  Body-Oriented Therapy  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy  Polyvagal Theory

Dr. Miranda Wiley, ND began her education into natural health quite by accident with a summer job at the local health food store at 13 years old. At that time she was dealing with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis after a shocking diagnosis of rheumatic fever at 11 years old, and was on strong prescription medications every 12 hours (which ultimately continued from ages 11 to 15). Motivated both by curiosity about her own health, as well as a desire to help the customers seeking information at the store, she began her life-long relationship to nutrition, herbs, nutrients, and different physical modalities.

After graduating from an arts high school in Toronto she moved to Vancouver to complete her undergrad in Human Nutrition at UBC. She then worked for a few years in the natural health industry while exploring schools of naturopathic medicine. At that time the only option in Canada was in Toronto but she had fallen in love with the west coast and didn’t want to return to a city she already knew so well. The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine opening in New Westminster was the answer to her dreams, and she graduated in 2009. Dr. Wiley has prescriptive authority, IV certification, and is trained in both acupuncture and Bowen Technique.

Dr. Wiley also serves as a product educator for a local distribution company selling high quality supplements, and loves the additional opportunity it provides to educate and empower large numbers of people about herbs, nutrients, and nutraceutical supplements.

When not in practice Dr. Wiley is happiest playing with her kids (who are finally old enough for some decent board games!) and husband, exploring her creative side in the kitchen, organizing and decluttering, moving her body outdoors or at home on the mat, or sitting quietly with a book and her cat.
